Over the years, as the kids have grown up, we somehow started a competition with who could cook the best meal of the week. So three years ago, we decided to take it up a notch. Soooooooo that is how our annual "Warta" Golden Spatula Award was started. Every day of the week each couple has a days worth of meals to plan, shop and cook. It has gotten very competitive, with the winners getting their name on a plaque that they can display in their own home for a year. They also receive a gift card at a popular restaurant! The last night of our stay we all sit around and vote (secret ballet, kids included)! We're always amazed at what bribing goes on to get the little kids votes!!! The winner also has to come back the next year and use the main ingredient of their winning meal to prepare their next meal at the cabin..........gets very interesting, especially when you win making "Bratwurst in a Special Sauce" like Joe and Sarah did! We're all still trying to figure that one out! We think it must have been the beer in the special sauce!
